Country Breakfast Quiche
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 1 Egg
- 2 1/2 Tbsp. Ice Water
- 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 10 Tbsp. Butter
- 1/2 Cup Asiago Cheese, shredded
For the Quiche Filling:
- 1 (14.5 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Petite Diced Tomatoes, drained
- 5 Eggs
- 1/2 Cup Half and Half
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
- Bacon, cooked, crumbled, as needed
- Spinach, to taste
- Swiss Cheese, shredded, to taste
Instructions:
For the Crust:
- Whisk together one egg and ice water until well combined.
- Add the all-purpose flour, salt, and cubed cold butter to a food processor. Pulse until the mixture resembles a coarse meal texture. Add in the egg mixture and the asiago cheese. Pulse until a dough forms trying not to overmix.
- Roll this dough out on a lightly floured surface until desired thickness, about 1/4". Gently press into the quiche pan or pie dish and crimp edges as desired.
- Cover the crust with plastic wrap and place it into the fridge for 30 minutes. It is important that the crust is cold before adding the filling.
For the Quiche Recipe:
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- While the crust is cooling, whisk together 5 eggs until well blended and it is a uniform color.
- In a separate bowl, whisk half and half with salt and pepper. Once combined, pour it into the eggs. Whisk until well combined.
- Add Dei Fratelli Petite Diced Tomatoes, spinach, bacon, and shredded Swiss cheese to the quiche filling. You could change up this recipe and do a ham and cheese version too!
- To fill your quiche, take the dough out of the fridge, remove the plastic wrap, and pour in the quiche filling. Make sure not to overfill and have it overflow as it will result in a soggy crust.
- Bake the quiche for 35-40 minutes, ensuring that the center has set and the crust is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish as desired.
