Spice up any meal with Picante Sauce! This flavorful Mexican sauce is made with Dei Fratelli Rustic Crushed Tomatoes, chipotle, jalapeno, poblano, and serrano peppers for a spicy sauce for chicken and tacos or a delicious dip for your favorite tortilla chips!

Ingredients:
- 1 (28 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Rustic Crushed & Chopped Tomatoes
- 10 Chipotle Peppers, dried
- 2 Poblano Peppers, seeded and diced
- 3 Jalapenos, seeded and diced
- 3 Serrano Peppers, seeded and diced
- 1 small Red Onion, chopped
- 5 Garlic Cloves
- 3 Tbsp. Cilantro
- 1 Tbsp. Cayenne Pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. Cumin
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper
- 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Lime, juiced
- Lime Zest, to taste
Instructions:
- In a small pot, add chipotle peppers and cover them with water. Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. Let the peppers sit for 15-20 minutes to rehydrate.
- Remove stems and seeds from chipotle peppers.
- Combine Dei Fratelli Rustic Crushed & Chopped Tomatoes and all other ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
- Drain water from the pot used to steam chipotle peppers and place the blended picante sauce in the pot.
- Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes.
- Place the finished Picante Sauce in an airtight container and place in the refrigerator to cool before serving.
Chef's Tip:
This spicy Picante Sauce can be used as a topping for tacos and nachos, a spread for burritos and sandwiches, or the perfect simmer sauce for some spicy chicken.
