Bring Italian flavors to your kitchen with our old-fashioned Nuovo Minestrone. This recipe is made Dei Fratelli Crushed Tomatoes and Tomato Sauce, hot Italian sausage, and cannellini beans. This one pot chunky soup is packed full of veggies and flavor!

  • 1 (28 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Crushed Tomatoes with Basil & Herbs
  • 1 (8 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Tomato Sauce
  • 1 lb. Hot Italian Sausage, ground
  • 1 Cup Red Onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp. Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 Cup Red Wine
  • 4 Cups Beef Broth
  • 1 (14 oz.) can Cannellini Beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 tsp. Oregano, dried
  • 1 (8 oz.) package Cheese Tortellini
  • 3 Cups Fresh Spinach
  • 3 Tbsp. Fresh Basil Leaves, chopped, for garnish
  • Parmesan Cheese, for garnish


  • In a large pan, cook sausage over medium heat until browned, about 8 minutes. Remove sausage and drain grease, leaving about 1 Tbsp. in the pan.
  • Add onion and garlic and sauté for 3 minutes, or until pan is almost dry.
  • Stir in the beef broth red wine, Dei Fratelli Crushed Tomatoes with Basil & Herbs, Dei Fratelli Tomato Sauce, beans, oregano, and cooked sausage. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Skim fat from the soup, cover, and simmer for an additional 20 minutes.
  • Add tortellini and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes. Fold in spinach and allow to wilt, about 2 minutes. Garnish with basil and parmesan cheese.

Chef's Tip:

Serve with a toasted baguette or garlic bread!
