This Creamy Tomato Gnocchi with burrata is an easy dinner made with Dei Fratelli tomatoes, garlic, cream, and basil that is ready to eat in about 40 minutes.
For the Sauce:
- 1 (14.5) oz can Dei Fratelli Whole Tomatoes
- 2 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Yellow Onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves Garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1 tsp. Granulated Sugar, optional
- 1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Black Pepper
For the Gnocchi:
- 1 lb. Potato Gnocchi, fresh or shelf-stable
- 8 oz. Burrata Cheese, fresh
- 1/4 Cup Basil Leaves, fresh, torn in pieces
- Salt for pasta water, as needed
- Parmesan Cheese, grated, as needed for serving
Begin by prepping your ingredients. Dice your onion, slice garlic, drain tomatoes, and measure out your heavy cream and sugar (if desired). Bring a pot of salted water to a boil to cook your gnocchi in.
To make your sauce, start by sautéing the diced onion and sliced garlic. Once softened and fragrant add in Dei Fratelli Whole Tomatoes and break them up with your spoon. Add in salt and pepper to taste and bring the sauce mixture to a simmer for 10 minutes.
While the sauce is simmering, begin cooking your gnocchi. Drain the pasta water into a bowl or cup to save for the next step.
Return back to your sauce, add in the heavy cream and the cooked gnocchi. Add in the reserved pasta water, if needed to thicken your sauce.
Plate your Creamy Tomato Gnocchi and top with burrata cheese, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.
