Traditional Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (28 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 lb. Whole Wheat Spaghetti Pasta
  • 3 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Cup White Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Carrot finely chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Celery finely chopped
  • 4 tsp. Garlic minced
  • 4 tsp. Italian Seasoning
  • 1 lb. Ground Turkey
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Parsley chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • While pasta is cooking, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery and cook until onions begin to brown, about 6-8 minutes. Stir in garlic and Italian seasoning and cook an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Add turkey and continue cooking until brown, about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add Dei Fratelli Crushed Tomatoes and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until sauce thickens. Stir in parsley and salt. Toss with pasta.

Notes

Garnish with grated parmesan cheese. Can easily be substituted with ground chicken or beef!
