Made with our Easy BBQ Sauce recipe, this BBQ Coleslaw adds flavor to this American favorite. Dei Fratelli Tomato Puree, orange juice, and tabasco sauce mix together to create this spicy and tasty side for your family get-together.

Ingredients:

For Easy BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 (28 oz.) can Dei Fratelli Tomato Puree
  • 1 1/3 Cups Light Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup Honey
  • 1 Tbsp. + 1 tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Black Pepper

For BBQ Coleslaw:

  • 2/3 Cup Easy BBQ Sauce Recipe
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Orange , juiced
  • 2 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. Mustard Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Tabasco Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper, ground
  • 6 Cups Cabbage, shredded

Instructions:

  • For the Easy BBQ Sauce mix all ingredients for the Easy BBQ Sauce together in a large bowl.
  • Add to a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.  Cook for 5 minutes. Remove BBQ Sauce from pan and set aside.
  • Add water, orange juice, mayonnaise, mustard powder, tabasco sauce, and 2/3 cup of Easy BBQ Sauce to the saucepan.  Whisk together and cook over low heat until everything has dissolved together.
  • Place shredded cabbage in a large bowl.  Once the BBQ sauce is ready, pour over the cabbage and toss well to combine.

Chef's Tip:

For maximum flavor, make a day ahead and allow to chill before serving.  Replace 1 cup honey with 1 cup maple syrup and substitute for a plant-based mayonnaise for a plant-based BBQ side.
